  • The eighth meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian Forum on Global Health with the theme focusing on health workforce concluded on the 6th of September. The Forum hosted by the Parliament of Vanuatu was held from 4 to 6 September 2024.   • On 29-30 April, 2024, WHO’s Regional Office for the Western Pacific convened the Expert Meeting on Accelerating Access to Human Genomics for Public Health in Manila, bringing together senior experts in national genomic initiatives, cancer genomics, rare disease and congenital disorders, bioethics and research policy to bolster regional initiatives on the field.   • Traditional food markets visit in Siem Reap, Cambodia during the 3 rd Biregional Advocacy Meeting on Risk Mitigation in Traditional Food Markets in the Asia-Pacific Region that was organized by the World Health Organization Regional Offices for South-East Asia and the Western Pacific on September 19 to 21, 2023.   • On 24 April 2023, members of the Philippine diplomatic corps, representatives of sister UN agencies and other partners gathered in the Regional Office for a high-level event to mark WHO's 75th birthday. It served as the perfect occasion to reflect on the Region’s public health successes and the contributions that WHO has made to global health over the past 75 years. In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being.  WHO’s 75th anniversary year is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved quality of life during the last seven decades. It focuses on thanking blood donors and highlights the dimension of “sharing” and “connection” between blood donors and patients. The campaign aims to highlight stories of people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood, and to encourage people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so, particularly young people.
