From farm to plate – make food safe
This year’s theme of World Health Day focuses on food safety. Food safety is the assurance that food will not cause harm to the consumer when it is prepared and/or eaten according to its intended use. Access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food is a basic human right and a prerequisite for good health. Everybody is at risk of foodborne diseases and with new food safety threats constantly emerging and with increased globalization of the food chain, food safety is becoming an increasing public health concern.
