Pacific Health Ministers Meeting
  • Health leaders from 18 Pacific island countries and areas (PICs) convened in the Tongan capital of Nuku’alofa for the Fifteenth Pacific Health Ministers Meeting (PHMM). During the meeting, held from 20 to 22 September, health leaders committed to 26 coordinated actions to tackle priority health issues: human resources for health, health information systems and digital health, health system resilience, and obesity among children and young people.

  • The Thirteenth Pacific Health Ministers Meeting (PHMM) was held in French Polynesia on 5-8 August 2019. Health leaders from across the Pacific discuss current and future health challenges and intended solutions. The PHMM was hosted in Pape’ete by the Government of French Polynesia, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pacific Community (SPC). The 13th PHMM’s agenda included: universal health coverage (covering primary care reforms, health information systems and health human resources); climate change and health; Pacific health security; noncommunicable diseases; immunization and vaccine preventable diseases; and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
